FAQ

1Can I apply for a spouse kitas if my marriage is registered outside of Indonesia?

Yes, you can apply using a foreign marriage certificate. However, you will need to legalize or register the marriage in Indonesia through the Civil Registry Office (Disdukcapil) for immigration purposes.

2How long can I stay in Indonesia with a spouse visa?

The initial visa allows short to medium-term stays (30–60 days), but you can convert it to a Spouse KITAS, which is valid for 1 year and can be extended annually. After 2 years of continuous stay, you may be eligible for a KITAP (5-year permit).

3Can I work in Indonesia with a spouse KITAS?

No. The standard Spouse KITAS is for residency only, not for employment. If you wish to work legally, you will need a work permit (IMTA) and a Working KITAS sponsored by a company.

4What happens if I divorce my Indonesian spouse after getting the visa?

If your marital status changes (e.g., divorce or annulment), your visa status must be reported immediately to immigration. In most cases, the Spouse KITAS becomes invalid, and you must apply for a different visa category or leave the country.

5Do I need a local sponsor?

Yes, your Indonesian spouse will act as your legal sponsor for the visa application. Agorasky can assist in preparing all required sponsorship documents.
