If you’re working in Indonesia and want your spouse and children to join you, a Dependent Visa (KITAS)—often called a Family Reunion Visa—is the solution. It allows your family to live with you legally while you work in Indonesia.

Validity: 12 months, as long as the sponsor’s KITAS is valid.

Requirements:

  • Passport (valid for 18+ months)
  • Marriage/birth certificate
  • Digital photo (red/white background)
  • Vaccination certificate
  • Domicile letter
  • Sponsor’s company documents

Processing Time: 14-20 working days. Original passport required for e-KITAS after arrival.

Legal spouses and children (under 18) of a KITAS or KITAP holder in Indonesia.

3Can my family work in Indonesia on a Dependent Visa?

No. A Dependent KITAS does not allow the holder to work. They must apply for a separate work permit if they wish to be employed.

4How long is the KITAS valid?

It is valid for up to 12 months and can be renewed as long as the sponsor’s KITAS is still valid.

5Can I convert a tourist visa to a KITAS in Indonesia?

No, you must apply offshore. The dependent visa must be applied for while the family is outside Indonesia.
